Terms and Conditions
Any bookings or reservations made at Penally Abbey Hotel agree to the following terms and conditions.
Standard Rate Booking policy
For standard rate bookings at Penally Abbey Hotel (not including any offers or discounts), no deposit or pre-payment is required. The total bill will be settled upon check-out.
To secure your reservation, we require valid credit or debit card details at the time of booking. This is for security purposes only, and no pre-payment will be taken. Please note that we do not accept American Express or cheques, including travellers’ cheques, under any circumstances.
Hotel Offers and Discounts
All offers and discounts are subject to availability and come with their own specific terms and conditions. Discounts and offers are applied at the discretion of the owners of Penally Abbey Hotel. Only one offer may be used per room booking. The hotel reserves the right to amend or withdraw any offers or discounts at any time. Vouchers may not always be valid for hotel offers; please contact our reception team directly for more information.

Third-party/Travel agent bookings
We no longer offer pro forma invoices for third-party/travel agent bookings.
This change has been made to prevent situations where payment has not been received from the third party/travel agent at the time of check-out, which has occasionally led to guests having to settle the bill themselves upon departure.
To enhance the overall experience for your clients, we only offer automatic full payment upon departure from the card used upon booking for third-party/travel agent bookings.
Your room booking confirmation email will include the full payment amount, ensuring transparency for both you and your clients.
Cancellation Policy (standard rate bookings - not including any offers or discounts)
If you cancel within 48 hours of your stay or you do not present at the hotel on the day of arrival you will be charged the full cost of your stay.
If you cancel within 7 days of your stay you will be charged 50% of the total cost of your stay and we
reserve the right to charge you the full cost of the stay if we are unable to re-sell the room.
We strongly advise you to ensure that you have adequate travel insurance in place to cover any unforeseen cancellation.
- If you cancel after 00:00:00 local time, 2 day(s) prior to arrival date, the forfeiture amount will be 100% from the total stay.
- If you cancel after 00:00:00 local time, 7 day(s) prior to arrival date, the forfeiture amount will be 50% from the total stay.
Christmas & New Years Eve 2025
Given the high demand during the festive season at Penally Abbey, our cancellation policy undergoes a slight modification for reservations spanning December 23rd to December 31st, 2025. Kindly take note of the following: Complete payment is due for bookings encompassing the specified dates by December 1st, 2025. The payment will be automatically processed, and no refunds will be issued after this date. We highly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance to safeguard against any unexpected cancellations.
Booking.com Cancellation Policy
The cancellation policy for bookings made via booking.com is slightly different to the cancellation policy for direct bookings stated above due to their own restrictions.
If you cancel within 7 days of your stay, 100% of your stay will be forfeited. The guest will be charged a prepayment of the total price of the reservation anytime after they have booked.
Large Group Bookings
To ensure all our guests have a comfortable stay, we kindly ask that groups (please note that our maximum group booking allowance is 5 rooms) planning to stay for special occasions or celebrations contact our reception team directly to make their reservations. If your booking is made through our website, we will reach out to you to discuss our group booking cancellation policy, which differs from our standard policy.
Please note, your booking will not be secured until this discussion has taken place.
- Please note that we are unable to accept stag or hen parties to stay overnight at Penally Abbey.
- We strongly advise you to ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place to cover any unforeseen cancellation.
- We do not hold wedding ceremonies, receptions or wedding celebrations.
Children
Children aged 4 years and under stay free of charge (please do let us know on booking if you require a travel cot or put up bed).
Children aged 15 years and under are charged at £30.00 per child, per night.
Extra adult aged 16 and above are charged at £60.00 per person, per night (3 adults max per room - only Room 3 or Room 7).
If you are planning on using a baby monitor while staying with us, we would not be able to guarantee a stable connection, nor would we encourage leaving children unattended in the room in case of an emergency.
Our restaurant is child-friendly and offers a dedicated children’s menu.
We recommend that guests with younger children book an earlier sitting, from 6:00 pm, at the start of service.
This ensures a more relaxed dining experience for families, with quicker service and a quieter atmosphere before the restaurant gets busier later in the evening.
If you would prefer a sitting earlier than 6:00 pm, please contact our reception team on 01834 843033. They will be happy to liaise with our restaurant and kitchen to accommodate your request.
Check-in and Check-out
Check-in is from 3pm and we request that guests check-out by 11am.
Damages
We reserve the right and you hereby authorise us to charge your credit or debit card used on booking for any damage incurred to your room or the Hotel during your stay (including without limitation specialist cleaning). This also applies to any missing items from the rooms or hotel in general and includes the Bramley toiletries and umbrellas.
Dog Policy
Please refer to our dog policy for the full terms and conditions when bringing your dog to Penally Abbey. We reserve the right to charge the credit or debit card used on booking for any damages caused by dogs staying at the hotel.
Penally Abbey must be made aware on booking that you would like to bring your dog.
Please note that we can only accommodate two dogs per room in our four dog-friendly rooms.
We charge £15.00 per dog, per night.
The four Coach House bedrooms are the only rooms at the hotel where dogs are welcome.
Lost Keys
Keys are to be returned on check out. A charge of £30 will be charged to the credit or debit card used on booking in the case of any keys lost or not returned on check out. Should a key mistakenly be taken home and not returned within a week we shall reserve the right to charge for a new key. The charge covers the cost of the new key and lock change.
No Smoking Policy
Penally Abbey Hotel and Rhosyn Restaurnt are 100% smoking and vaping free. Smoking is not permitted in any part of the building. An assessed cleaning fee of £100 will be charged to any guests found smoking within the building.
Lost Property
For any items left in the bedrooms or at the hotel, we are more than happy to post them on request, subject to the cost of postage. Due to the high volume of lost property, we reserve the right to dispose of the item or pass it on to charity if it is unclaimed two weeks on from the check-out date.
Allergies and Intolerances
Should you suffer from any food allergies and intolerances please ensure you have made Penally Abbey aware on booking. Our kitchen will always try to accommodate nearly all requirements. We may ask for you to sign a form declaring your allergy when you arrive.
If you have a feather allergy, do let us know on booking so we can ensure that hypoallergenic bedding is used for your room.
Phone Signal
The mobile phone signal varies on different networks. A good signal is not necessarily available in all parts of the building, particularly where there are thick stone walls.
Gift Vouchers
All gift vouchers purchased for Penally Abbey & Rhosyn Restaurant are valid for 6 months from their date of issue and are non-refundable. They can be used for both Penally Abbey Hotel & Rhosyn Restaurant.
Parking
Penally Abbey Hotel has a private, free car park however we cannot guarantee that there will be a parking space for you on arrival. We ask all guests to please park sensibly to allow for other guests to park.
We have never had an instance of car theft in our car park but please be aware that you are solely responsible for your car and its contents.
Please note that we do not provide parking for afternoon tea bookings, the hotel car park is strictly reserved for overnight guests, we advise parking on the village green or at Penally train station which is a short walk from the hotel.
Wifi
There is free wifi throughout the hotel. We ask that guests use data responsibly so that all guests can benefit from it.
Please be aware that due to the remote location, and age of the listed building, that Wifi can sometimes drop out depending on the weather or other circumstances beyond our control.
Service Charge
Please be aware that we add a 12.5% service charge to all food and drink bills. This is discretionary, if you would like it taken off your bill just let us know and we will be happy to remove it.
If you feel like our service did not meet your expections please do let us know what we could improve on, we value all feedback.
Social Media Competitions or Giveaways
All social media competitions held by Penally Abbey and Rhosyn Restaurant on either social media channels, at its sole discretion and at any time, can be changed or modified and any such change shall be effective immediately upon posting to this webpage.

- This prize must be booked directly with the Penally Abbey reception team.
- Dates and rooms will be subject to availability.
- The stay must be booked before October 2025.
- The stay cannot be used in conjunction with any offers at the hotel.
- Vouchers cannot be used with this prize or booking.
- The Bramley Spring Skin bundle will be awaiting your arrival in your bedroom at Penally Abbey Hotel.
- Bramley Spring Skin bundle is non-transferable.
